Established in 1902, Children's Home Society of Florida (CHS) is one of Florida's oldest private nonprofit organizations providing services to children and families. CHS delivers a unique spectrum of social services designed to protect children at risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment; to strengthen and stabilize families; to help young people break the cycle of abuse and neglect; and to find safe, loving homes for children. Last year, CHS helped to improve the lives of more than 139,000 children and family members.

UM/Sylvester opened as a dedicated, comprehensive cancer center in 1992 and today serves as the hub for cancer-related research, diagnosis, and treatment at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. UM/Sylvester handles more than 1,400 inpatient admissions annually, performs 3,000 surgical procedures, and treats 3,000 new cancer patients. All UM/Sylvester physicians are on the faculty of the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, South Florida’s only academic medical center.

Miami Children's Hospital Foundation raises funds and awareness for Miami Children's Hospital, South Florida's only licensed specialty hospital exclusively for children. The 275-bed hospital is renowned for excellence in all aspects of pediatric medicine. Miami Children's Hospital and Miami Children's Hospital Foundation work together to ensure that no child will ever have to leave South Florida to receive the best pediatric care.

The Daily Bread Food Bank provides food and other groceries to not-for-profit organizations in South Florida, which is donated from sources ranging from retailers and wholesalers to food brokers, manufacturers and food drives. In 2005, the Rachlin Foundation donated $880 as well as hundreds of dollars worth of canned goods.

American Red Cross

The Red Cross has provided disaster relief to Americans for nearly 125 years, relying on the support of the American public, hundreds of thousands of selfless volunteers and partnerships with other agencies. Last year, the Rachlin Foundation raised more than $19,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and the Tsunami relief program.

Ocean Watch Foundation works to preserve and protect the local coral reef communities in Southeast Florida. Last year, the Rachlin Foundation donated $350 to help their efforts.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has supported those in need since 1865. Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance each year through services that provide food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. Last year, the Rachlin Foundation sponsored a toy drive, collecting more than $500 worth of toys for the Salvation Army.

The Samantha Foundation's mission is to educate and instruct parents on creating a safe home environment for children. In 2005, the Rachlin Foundation raised $290 to help this organization and will be one of the sponsors of their First Annual Golf Tournament.

The Tri County Humane Society is a not-for-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to saving animals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Last year, the Rachlin Foundation donated $540 to assist in their efforts.

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital is the leading children's hospital in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. It is the only children's hospital in Broward and Palm Beach Counties performing cardiac catheterization and open heart surgery, and it is one of only a few hospitals in the nation minimally invasive, endoscopic surgery for cranial abnormalities. In 2005, the Rachlin Foundation donated more than $1,000 worth of toys to the hospital.

Wheels for Kids, Inc. is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2003 by Denise Jungbert in honor of her daughter, Ashlee, who has Cerebral Palsy (CP). The organization was established to provide wheelchairs to handicapped children afflicted with CP living in Palm Beach County who are financially unable to purchase them on their own and who do not qualify for public funding or other charitable sources.

Fairy Tails provides assistance to people with animals in need of shelter and care, finds homes for abandoned and surrendered animals, and educates the community on keeping pets responsibly. The organization holds weekly adoption events and visits schools and other organizations regularly to talk about responsible pet ownership, the humane treatment of animals, and other important pet ownership issues.

Water Angels is a Broward County-based, non-profit agency that works to educate parents, schools and caregivers about water safety. The organization stresses that swimming lessons alone are not enough. Barriers between children and water and constant supervision of children whenever they are around water are absolutely essential to keep children safe.

CIS of Miami links schools and community resources to help kids finish school and prepare for life. Services are offered free to the students. Programs are located in grade schools, high schools and at many community sites.
